Kuwait Registers 17 New World Records

Amidst massive public and media attendance at Marina Mall, Kuwait witnessed the registration of 17 new world records in 6 contests on Day 1 of the Guinness World Record Book. The event is being organized by Al-Badraniya Co of Kuwait over 3 days. The event is being supervised by a team of Guinness World Record arbitrators, and is sponsored by a number of local, regional and international companies.

Andre Banvi, Record Manager of Guinness World Record, in a press release Friday, announced that Day 1 contests ran on Thursday over 8 continuous hours, from 2 pm to 10 pm. New records were broken in all contests, where the public were allowed to participate.


“Kuwait witnesses new records in 6 areas: 1. Fastest building of tower of 20 Arabian coffee cups. 2. Highest coin tower built in one minute. The largest number of banknotes counted in 30 seconds. 4. Fastest time to eat a cake. 5. Largest number of shirts worn in one minute. 6. Fastest time to write an sms on mobile in English.” She said.


On her part, Sarah Al-Shatti, CEO of Al-Badraniya Co Kuwait (event organizers), stated: “The contest of fastest building of a pyramid consisting of 20 Arabian coffee cups witnessed 4 new records within one day. By order from top: 1. Abdulla Ebrahim Al-Dana, within 13.59 seconds. 2. Gorkan Kemionger, within 15.1 seconds. 3. Saad Al-Anzi, within 16.5 seconds. 4. Yazan Mohammad Abul Rab, within 18.80 seconds.”


In the fastest building a coin tower in one minute contest, Sarah Al-Shatti won with 32 coins, and in the fastest time to write an sms in English contest, Yousuf Ahmad Abdul Sabout won in 29.43 seconds, and in the largest number of shirts worn in a minute contest, Ryan Baldery and Wael al-Khalaf won with 27 shirts.


In the largest number of banknotes counted in 30 seconds, 3 new records were made in a single day. By order, winners are: 1. Hisham Zaida - 94 banknotes. 2. Ali Hasan Essa - 84. 3. Hisham Zaidan - 83.
