Its Time Again for the Festival of Light in Kuwait

Evening went to Ahmadi area, where every year the"Festival of Light" take place in the month of February. To commemorate the National and Liberation Day, the entire Ahmadi area, including streets, parks, offices, trees, church and houses are beautifully decorated with lights. Firework displays takes place in the evening.

Ahmadi is one of the six governorates of Kuwait. It is located in the southern part of the country and is famous in Kuwait for its greenery and British architecture. It forms an important part of Kuwaiti economy as several of Kuwait's oil refineries are located here. It is popularly known as the home of KOC (Kuwait Oil Company).

Light Decoration,Q8

For the last few days could not update my blog. It was my horrible cough and cold, that kept me bed ridden and now my baby daughter is very sick. She is suffering from viral fever and this is the case with most babies here. Its for the sudden change of season, they said. Weather here has become like that of Assam. In my four years stay, I have not seen such weather. It has been continually raining for four days and it reminded me of Assam.

Infact few days ago, before my daughter fell sick and I too had that horrible throat infection, we drove through most part of Kuwait to see the various light decoration. As a part of celebration of Kuwait's 50th Independence Day and 20th Liberation Day, the entire country is lighted. It was a pleasure to see them and sharing with my readers and visitors.

Festival of Light,Ahmadi Q8,2011

In two of my earlier post I wrote about the Festival Of Light that is celebrated every year in the month of February in Ahmadi in Kuwait. The whole town is redefined as trees, roads, houses, offices etc are all decorated with lights by KOC. You can check the previous post on it

This year was no different. Infact Kuwait celebrated its 50th year of Independence,20th year of Liberation and 5th year of power of the Amir/King. This weekend visited the township and took some pictures which I am sharing with you all.

The KNPC which is lighted with different themes each year is unique this time...it was made like a big screen

The KOC head office which is often fully decorated is kept simple.....the building is left simple...no decoration with lights but the boundary and campus decorated...it too looked great

The best design which I liked was that of peacock and the big cactus tree

Time flies. I remember it very well(its just like yesterday) our visit to Ahmadi without Mehr...then taking Mehr as a baby....next taking her while she just learned to walk...and now she poses whenever you take pic's and also took pictures herself.
