This weekend too was spend exploring Kuwait.
On Wednesday was Janmastami, so the Assamese community in Kuwait celebrated it with naam and prasad and a light dinner followed.
On Thursday evening we drove to Jabriya area. A totally Kuwaiti area it is full with big beautiful villa’s. Each one of them look like palaces and in front of each of them the most recent and luxurious cars are lined up…..not one or two but 7-8cars infront of each villa’s. These people are really so very rich. As we drove around the area we came across Al Mubarak Al Kaber Hospital. It is a general hospital built in in 1982. The hospital was named after Shiekh Mubarak Al-Kabeer Al-Sabah. It serves the Hawalli Governorate and covers about 700,000 people in the area. Near the hospital is Kuwait University’s Faculty of Medicine and the Dental College. I also saw a huge school near the hospital for Children of Special Need’s. We also came across Pakistan and Philippines Embassy in the area. We also remembered the area as we drove pass in Jabriya where Tareq Rajab Museum, Museum of Islamic Calligraphy and Dar al Cid is situated. We could see the majestic Royal Hayatt Hospital (though far) sparkling like a diamond in the night. This area has few nice, big play schools like Polka-Dots and Mafaz Nursery for leadears. Also came across two co-operatives in the area. A large one (supermarket) and another small one near Tareq Rajab Museum, near the mosque. The next neighbourhood is Khaifan area which has lot of apartments. Liked the area as it is not congested like Salmiya. There are lot of lawyers and legal firms in this area. Another thing I noticed is that almost all the apartments has beauty saloons. The regular shops like that of grocery, pharmacy, Burger King, Pizza Hut etc are found here. We then drove to Shamiya area near Kuwait city. Just loved the night view of the city from here. We stopped at Shamieh- Shuwaikh co-operative, a big one for marketing. I think this is the best place to shop for groceries in Kuwait. The vegetables fruits were all very fresh and price quite reasonable, less than many hypermarkets and supermarkets. You will find variety of things and it becomes hard to make a choice. I came across a brand call “Sultan” and of that brand you will get small cleaned whole chickens (good for tandoori) and even cut-pieces of chicken (fresh) packed. Be it grocery, baby products, kitchen items, you just name it; you will get any item here. Just next to the co-operative is Shamiya Mall and the police station.
On Friday we drove to to Sabah Al Salem Area. We took the 207 road to reach this area(303). Totally a Kuwati area, the villas are big but old. We went far ahead and reached the 6th R ing Road and came near Mishref. We stopped at 360 Mall and did some marketing at Geant. After that we proceeded to Bayan area which have some very lovely and attractive villa’s. Then we went to Salwa area which has some nice and admirable play school and a big co-operative.
Whichever Kuwaiti area we go, they all are full with huge, grand, lovely and majestic villas. The villas and cars make me wonder is there any poor Kuwaiti in rich Kuwait?

Hawally Park,Q8
After moving around in the car for some time, we came to Hawally park which was opened to public in 2004. As it is a government park it has no entrance fee.
It was already evening by the time we entered the park. We first visited the Jarir Bookstore which is inside the park.
You will find the best of everything in Kuwait, the only thing till now,I found difficult to find is a good bookstore.
Our visit to this bookstore has deleted this shortcoming. A very big store where you will find variety of books, computer equipments, printer inks, variety of pens and pen stands, travel equipments and educative games for all ages . A “must visit” for book lovers.
After having a look at everything that is found here, I purchased few educative games for Mehr and then we had a look at all the games of the park.
The park also has a branch of Caesars Restaurant, gift shops, children’s clothes and accessories shop, 2 aquarium shops, computer shop, perfume shop and a photo studio. What made us very happy and satisfied was to see MEHR enjoying seeing the games and lights.
In the park there is Fun Land, an indoor children’s play area and few restaurants. Both in the park and in Fun Land your child is pampered with so many games, your child will love it. If you have a kid then you SHOULD visit Hawally Park.

Al Mohalab Mall / Titanic Mall, Hawally, Q8
When once we had to stop at a traffic signal, I saw a building whose top was like that of a ship. We were attracted by the design and decided to find out what the building is? And guess, what it is – a mall, Al Mohalab Center. We found that it is a mall with a difference.
It is a health centric mall. It has five floors of which the first to fourth floor has shops of many international brands, offers a wide range of boutiques, exclusive specialty stores and designer boutiques and restaurants.
The fifth floor houses Spa Time(for women) and Men Time (Spa for only men); Nutrition and Diet Center; A Facial Center ; Lavender Massage Parlour; Al Fozen Dental Clinic; A Family Health Center and office of Al Mohalab administrative staff. The interior of the mall is contemporary and stylish. The fourth floor has a cines cape. If shopping, watching movies and devouring scrumptious snacks are listed in your scheme of things then mark Al Mohalab Centre as your ultimate destination. Located on the Muthana Street, Hawally area, behind the Hawally Park, the Al Mohalab Mall is also known as The Titanic Mall, due to its shape, which resembles the deck of the boat. On one side of the mall is the College of Business Studies (Women) and on the other side is the International Media Academy.
An interesting point to be noted is that like other malls it was not overcrowded and we did not find any people of other nationality other then Arabic people which you will not find in other malls. Also it has a multi-level parking facility. Anyway we liked the mall. Our next destination was the Hawally park.

Hawally, Q8
For the last few days, weather is pleasant, good to move around and enjoy the outdoors. Yesterday the entire day we were out. We decided to explore Hawally. We did visit Hawally few times, as our friend Dr Debashis and Dr Ranjita along with their only son stays here. But we never visited the area with the idea of exploring; our visit was to their house or to Hawally Park.
Hawally is a large suburb and the commercial center for most computer-related goods in Kuwait. Prior to the first Gulf War, it housed a large number of the Palestinian population in Kuwait, but many Palestinians were expelled after the War. Currently, Hawally is a home to many of the Arab populations in Kuwait.
The Al Qadsiya sports club also resides within Hawally . Its football stadium is one of the most famous in Kuwait and is a popular venue for many international matches that happen within the region. It also has The American School of Kuwait (A.S.K.). Hawally has its own theme park called Hawally Park. It also boost of two well known hospitals- New Dar Al Shifa Hospital and Royal Hayat Hospital .
New Dar Al Shifa Hospital, is the branch of Dar Al Shifa Hospital, first private hospital in Kuwait, started in 1961. Dar Al-Shifa was initially launched as a private maternity hospital in Kuwait. The hospital bloomed and progressed to offer Pediatric care, ENT, Internal Medicine. As continuity to the great success; A New Dar Al-Shifa Hospital location was established in Hawally city, equipped with the latest international medical technology and run by highly competent American and European experienced medical staff of all areas and expertise. The hospital emphasized its concern to offer utmost comfort to its patients by providing prestigious suites and luxurious rooms especially designed to create a cozy home atmosphere accompanied with a warm personalized attendance in patients care. Royal Hayat Hospital has redefined hospitability in hospitals. It is world’s first luxury hospital. To have a tour of this wonderful hospital check the website royalhayat
