Weekend @ Salmiya sea-side,Q8

The weather is perfect to plan any outdoor activity.This weekend we did not have much to do, so decided to spend some time at the Salmiya sea-side. We parked our car near Hard Rock cafe and walked towards Marina Waves. Marina Waves is a perfect place for adventure lovers. You will find lot of adventure sports and restaurants here.We sat for sometime on the rocks enjoying the view of sea and its waves.We enjoyed the cool breeze  and started our walk again. On our way we came across a small park.Mehr stopped and enjoyed some games. We walked further. After few minutes I stopped but Jeet walked to Marina Mall. While Jeet was away , I took few pictures of Marina Waves and Hard Rock Cafe and played with Mehr. Mehr was enjoying the breeze and the walk. We did not realize that we have reached Marina Mall. This walking track by the sea side is a long one, starting from Hard Rock Cafe to Kuwait Towers. It is quite spacious and you will find small juice bars and people selling ice-creams and mineral water bottles. There will be lot of people and specially when the weather is pleasant it is over crowded. We enjoyed our time so much that next day i.e on Friday we went there again. We could not spend much time on Friday as we had some marketing to do at City Center. Visited City Center after a long time, maybe after 11-12months.Enjoyed our visit.

Enjyd exploring Fahaheel@ weekend

Fahaheel, is one of the main area of Kuwait.We have visited it many times and every time we enjoy it.Infact it has all, you just name it....lot of restaurants, Sea side,Centre point, Al Kout Mall, Al Manshar Mall, 5-star Rotana Hotel, Fahaheel Bazar, LuLu, Al Ghanim,Fish market, Vegetable market, many many shops selling cloths, accessories,gold shops, money exchanges etc. So all your needs are fulfilled. As we stay in Abu Halifa, this is the best place for us to shop, as it is only a 15-20 min drive from our place.But it changed after Mehr was born.The main problem here is parking your vehicle. You may have to park in a opposite direction though you have work in a different direction. To get a place to park your car is the main concern here. So to carry Mehr from one place to another is quite difficult when specially the weather is humid.
This weekend when we went to Fahaheel, Jeet told me that he will take me to a different area of Fahaheel. I was surprise as to which new area he will take me. We parked our car in the parking area of Al Manshar Mall. We walked towards the back side of Rotana Hotel and the Al Manshar mall. I was thinking where is he taking us, when I saw a security personal. Jeet talked to him and we went inside. I didn't know that it is  a residential complex. One of Jeet's friend stay here. The residential complex consist of 3 bedroom apartments, quite spacious and the view of the sea and Fahaheel from the apartment is just beyond description....all I can say is "wah". All at the price...guess......only 350KD.....we thought it would be 600-700KD. Though its in the heart of Kuwait, lot of market and hotel nearby, its far from the hue and cry. No noise, a perfect place to stay.The sea side, shopping area/markets are at stone's throw. We got tempted to shift but with a kid we don't need such a big place.The job of maintaining the big apartment will fall on me. So I at once cancelled the idea when Jeet suggested.
We just moved around Al Manshar Mall....I purchased few souvenirs.This mall has some nice souvenir shops, owners/shop-keepers are Kashmiri's( from India).It has lot of brand show-rooms, restaurants. A nice place to move around.

Weekends in Q8

Every weekend, when we don't have anything specific to do, we try to explore one area of Kuwait which we have never visited before.
This weekend we decided to explore Rawda. This area is next to Hawally.A Kuwaiti area with lot of nice villa's.But the characteristic of the area is that it has lot of greenery.Each and every house, whatever space they have has lot of trees and plants.

Jeet had some work in the Egyptian Embassy and so we planned to do the work and also explore the area. This is not the main embassy building. Egyptian Embassy has two offices here.In this one, visa work etc are done. We had to move for sometime as the Embassy building which is a villa is not nicely marked and also towards the end of the road.The address is

Weekends in Q8(4)

Just like any normal weekend, we started our weekend exploring. We have explored many areas of Kuwait for the last three years but every weekend we feel there is lot to know about the various areas of Kuwait.

We are enjoying doing our weekly marketing at the various co-operatives in Kuwait and since I am inviting few friends for lunch on Saturday, we decided to go to Salwa co-operative. A Kuwaiti area, with lot of lovely villas. But one thing I have noticed about the villas is that they are quite big, two-three storied like a small apartment. No doubt they are just too attractive. As I did not get much of the things I wanted in the co-operative, we decided to go to a different area. The Salwa co-operative is not that big nor is their vegetable and frozen section that strong. But there are lot of eateries, play area, book shops, pastery shop, watch shop, perfume shop and mothercare in the building and Salwa Mall is next to the co-operative.

We wanted to go to Shamieh- Shuwaikh co-operative as we have till now found it the best place to purchase vegetables, fruits, grocery items, chicken etc. Jeet loves to try out new roads and he took a different road to this co-operative. We felt we have taken a wrong road, but we enjoyed driving through the area. The villas of the areas are too big, beautiful, lovely to describe in words. They appeared to me like a Hindi-movie set where we have v. big houses with lot of statues and fountains. The balcony area of most of the houses has beautiful designer lights. I just wanted to stop and take few pictures but Jeet didn’t allow as people might misunderstand us. We at last came to the co-operative of the area and it is Dahiat Abdullah Al Salem and Al Mansourieh Co-operative society. A not so big co-operative but the frozen and fresh “chicken” section of the co-operative is quite strong. We purchased few fresh chickens and moved to Shamieh-Shuwaikh co-opeartive.

Both these two co-operatives are not very far from each other and are near Kuwait city. In Shamieh –Shuwaikh co-operative we did our marketing and returned home.

Weekend's in Q8(3)

The Eid holidays are over and now all is back to normal routine from tomorrow. Getting up at 5.30am, making breakfast, tiffin for Jeet etc etc. They got five days holidays and we tried to make use of it the most. Apart from the invitations from Muslim friends for lunch and dinner, few Assamese friends too invited us. So we had been eating a lot and when we got few free time we went out exploring Kuwait as usual and attended few Eid Carnival’s or Mela’s( what we can in India). These carnivals are fun to visit and Mehr just loved it.

Once we drove to Firdous where one of Jeet’s Kuwait friend lives. It’s a Kuwaiti area with lot of nice big new and old villa’s. From there we drove to Jleeb Al Shuwaik and to Abbasia( neighbourhood area’s). Both the area’s are full with Indians and Bangladeshi people. Infact shops of most of the shops and supermarkets have Indian names. In Jleeb Al Shuwaik, the roads are narrow, apartments very near to each other, saw lot of bachelors moving around. Abbasiya we saw lot of Indians and felt the area little better then Jleeb Al Shuwaik, though both the area’s are cramped.

Weekends in Q8

My weekends here is a mix bag....extremely busy, lot of house work but also with loads of fun, travelling and exploration. Extremely busy with lot of house work as maids dont work for you during this time; it's no-work and rest time for them. So from morning tea to dinner everything you need to do without any help. Apart from the housework is Mehr and she wants more attention when you remain busy with work.

The best thing about Jeet my hubby is that he loves exploring new places. The last two weekends were awfull. Last weekend we tried marketing in the new Lulu Hypermarket that was opened in Qurain area. Just loved it.....so many variety from all over the world. Will write a separate post on this. We visited the Mirror House, a must-visit place in Kuwait. We tried exploring Salmiya. Every time we go to Salmiya with a mind of exploring this area, we see a new face. We had read about Qurain museum and went there. It was our first visit to this area but still Jeet could drive me there without any problem. The museum was close for Ramadan and we took note of the timings and came back.

This weekend we tried marketing in the new Geant supermarket which is opened in Salmiya. Found the first floor to be very crampy but the basement was good. Didnt really enjoy marketing here....not too much variety and also crampy. We visited the Kuwait House of National Works "Memorial Museum" in Kuwait City. The Iraqi invasion is nicely depicted here. As we couldnot visit the Qurain Museum we visited this weekend. Another place which depicts the martyrdom of Kuwaiti people during Iraqi invasion. We also went to Red Palace in Jahra area. This place is in the outskirts of the city and very far from the area we stay. But we enjoyed the drive and the Palace/ Fort which was part of many historic battle. Did some marketing at Mangaf Sultan Center.

Now back to normal housework and tutions till the next weekend!
