Udupi Restaurant,Fahaheel,Q8

Did hear about Udupi Restaurant in Fahaheel and always wanted to go and try out the food. We love South Indian food and if given the opportunity never miss it out.

Earlier most weekends we would go to Fahaheel but after my daughter was born things changed. We hardly go to Fahaheel (why???....will give the reason in my next post)

Last weekend we had lot of things to do and it all got completed in time. Also we could get our car parked in the parking space of the building where Udupi restaurant is situated. So decided to try out the food at Udupi.

Both me and my husband ordered masala dosa and my daughter ordered paper dosa.
We enjoyed the dosa ....

All three of us had dosa but nothing happened to my daughter and husband. But I started a terrible stomach upset . Dont know why??
Infact I am still not well. Yesterday a friend called and when she came to know about it said that the same happened to her and another of our friend....All three of us (ladies) had dosa

What is the cause of our stomach upset is still not clear to me....still trying to find out.

College begins with Kindergarten!

Hey ya'll!  We're gearing up for Kindergarten graduation at our school.  May 17th to be exact. This will be the first year we've done anything like this. Normally, we just have a little presentation and students read a poem or perform a cute song for parents, we invite them to our room for snacks, and call it a day.  But this year, we're going ALL out. Diplomas and all. Needless to say, I'm scouring the internet for ideas and wondering what to do.  Here are some of my favorite pinterest finds.
Love the paper plate faces. I'm debating on making this....
Or this? Sooooo cute.
I got crafty and put together these letters with my Cricut. I'm gonna hang them from my clothesline in my room and then hang the kinders' pictures around it! It's going to be my focal point for the little open house we plan on having after the ceremony.
I may even make these yummy things, too. We'll see?? Look out Martha.
Yup, we are definitely learning First Grade! First Grade! and singing it. It makes my heart smile. What other songs would you recommend?
Here is a fun little keepsake I plan on doing for parents. Just click on the picture to grab it from google docs! I'll fill out the top part (name, age, grade, teacher) and let my students fill out the rest.  Then, I'll paint their hand and do a little hand print on the right side, mount on fun scrapbook paper, and laminate.  These will be laying at their desks along with a few other items for parents to take home after the graduation ceremony. I'm sure they'll love them! Do you all have any other ideas? This is a first for us at the Springs so I could use some help! Happy Saturday!

Barbecue on public beaches; fine raised to 1000 KD,Q8

Persons who barbecue at public locations, which are not permitted for the same, will be fined KD 1,000, the Director-General of Kuwait Municipality warned on Wednesday.

Ahmad Al-Sebeeh, in a statement to news agency, indicated that the authority, after realizing that some citizens and residents do not abide by public cleanliness laws because of soft penalties, decided to increase the fine for such a violation from KD 100 to KD 1,000.

There are specific locations for barbecuing in 144 public parks, he said, stressing that grilling is restricted to these places.

Municipal teams will monitor such violations, he re-stressed, urging the nationals and expatriates to abstain from inflicting damage on public properties, such as the seaside green spots, with such random barbecuing, dumping of ashes on plants and littering.
Beautification of the public spots costs the State millions of dinars for entertainment and well-being of the people, thus these properties must not be target of such harmful acts and conducts.

Indian Embassy Holiday on May 6th

The Embassy of India will remain closed on Sunday, May 6, 2012 on account of “Buddha Purnima”.

This was announced by the Embassy in a press statement.

I'm dreaming of...next year?!?

Hey friends! I don't know about ya'll...but the end of April hits/first of May...and I'm thinking of next year. What do I want to do differently, what are my goals, what do I wish I would have done this past year, etc? You get the picture! :) Anyways, I've already found some fun pictures on Pinterest that have given me inspiration for many of my "to do's" for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year. Here they are:
MUST.organize.construction.paper. Hello fuzzy - what a hot mess mine is! I'm dying to put it in a filing cabinet drawer using hanging file folders - genius.
I hope my Dad is ready to build. I am SOOO making these this summer using PVC pipe. My plan is to have little pocket chart workstations spread throughout my room. Having these chart holders will allow me to do so. And if ya'll are like me, you bought a million bajillion of these mini pocket charts from Target $1 section - Amen?!
I want to do community supplies rather than crayon boxes. I am SO over those. And if one more child drops theirs and spills crayons and supplies everywhere, I'm liable to lose it! ha
Holy smartness. I plan on making a BUTT load of these for all the new students who come in during the school year. Am I the only one whose classroom is like a revolving door?! :( Having these "on hand" will make the transition so much easier and me - - less stressed.  ha
I need a new behavior system. Period. This one is looking mighty appealing! :)
Everything about this classroom makes me want to crawl through my computer and visit. This classroom is so beautiful, organized, colorful, and inviting. One of my goals, is to get my classroom to a state of liking. ha This may never be possible. I have some shelves I want to paint, things I want to rearrange, and just good ole housekeeping items I need to take care of in my room.

With that said, I'm already writing down ideas as I think of them. I made a few little lists to help me stay organized and not get carried away. You can grab them by clicking the pic below. What are YOU planning on doing differently next year? Leave me some love, please.

Kuwait Times :Kuwaiti inventor Adel Jumaa Abdine was yesterday declared winner of the silver medal at the prestigious International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, the most important inventions-related event in the world. Abdine won the silver medal for his invention of a unique system for emergency runway for civil and military aircraft which will help solve many problems which face air planes while landing. “I dedicate this winning to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah for their support to me,” Abdine said.
Abdine said that his invention provides better communications between the control and rescue rooms in the airport and the plane crew. It also allows rescue teams to operate fire-extinguish pumps on both sides of and beneath plane pavements. The invention also includes a system for heating the pavements during cool times. “This award encourages me to do all in power to help Kuwait become the first country in the world to use this system,” he said.
Abdine revealed that he has received two invitations to participate in Geneva civilian aircraft exhibition to be held next month and the military aircraft exhibition to be held here next year. “I hope HH the Amir would sponsor my participation in the two exhibitions,” he said. Massive Tyre Fire,Q8

A sea of tyres burns in a wall of flame in Rehaiya in Jahra yesterday

MPs, environmentalists slam govt for negligence – Fears for environment after massive tyre fire

Kuwait Times : Hundreds of firemen yesterday fought to contain a massive fire in a dump for used tyres in Rehaiya in Jahra, with some MPs calling the blaze an environmental catastrophe. Firemen from the national guard, the army and the oil sector joined efforts to extinguish the fire that was still raging hours after it broke out in the dump of more than five million tyres, the fire department said. The dump is 4 km from the Amghara scrap yard and 15 km from Saad Al-Abdullah city. Eighteen fire station centers were fighting the blaze and 200,000 gallons of water had been used so far.
Environment authorities advised residents in the area to stay away and to use masks, but the education ministry rejected calls by MPs to suspend classes at local schools. A number of MPs described the fire as an “environmental catastrophe” and vowed to demand a debate on the issue in a special parliamentary session next week. Some said they will demand an official probe. Medics said that six people were treated for minor burns.
Visiting the scene, Information Minister Sheikh Mohammed Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah stressed that the government will form a special committee to investigate the blaze as well as ask the municipality for an alternative site to be used as a landfill for used tyres away from residential areas. He said that the only merit about the disaster was the response of firemen, the municipality, the national guards, the ministry of interior, the ministry of health, Kuwait Oil Co (KOC) and the Environment Public Authority (EPA) that reported to the scene in record time to contain the fire and limit its damage. Jahra Governor Sheikh Mubarak Al-Humoud Al-Jaber vowed to control the fire before nightfall, adding that firefighters have built a barrier of sand to prevent the fire from spreading.
MPs demanded an investigation into the incident without excluding the possibility that it might be intentional nor exempting the government from responsibility because it failed to respond to repeated warnings. MP Faisal Al-Mislem vowed to demand a full investigation, since the fire resulted in toxic fumes. MP Mubarak Al-Waalan said that the fire was a real disaster that reflected the incapability of the government to manage crises and protect the environment. MP Hamad Al-Mattar, who was present at the site when the first fire engines arrived, urged the minister of education to temporarily close area schools. He also urged the prime minister to visit the site in person.
Education Minister Nayef Al-Hajraf said any decision to close schools today would be subject to a technical report on the areas affected by the toxic fumes. “If any, suspension will be limited to schools in Rehaiya,” he said at a press conference held at the Jahra educational zone directorate, emphasizing that reports have indicated that gas levels were so far within normal limits and that there was no need to shut schools. The acting undersecretary and assistant undersecretary for public education Mohammed Al-Kandari reassured parents that exams for students who were absent yesterday would be postponed. He also urged students with special health conditions to stay at home.
Khalid Al-Hajeri, Chairman of Green Line Environment Group – Kuwait blamed Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak for the environmental disaster. “Sheikh Jaber was the Chairman of the High Council for Environment since the 2004 till he became the prime minister, and he didn’t pay attention to the danger of collecting millions of damaged tyres without any environmental safety measures. His responsibility covers the disaster as he is the one to give orders to activate emergency plans,” he said a statement.
Hajeri also demanded that MPs should act seriously towards this environmental disaster, which put the lives of people in Jahra in danger. “Green Line will support the head of the environment committee in the parliament MP Matar if he decides to grill the ministers responsible for this disaster,” he said. He said Green Line is in contact with the residents of Jahra to counter the negligence of the government and parliament towards finding real solutions for disasters in Kuwait.
Hajeri also blamed the EPA as the first body in charge of inspecting and observing waste buried in the country. “EPA is responsible to set the necessary rules and conditions that enforces public authorities to execute them. EPA didn’t do this,” he charged. “Burnt tyres produce extremely dangerous and poisonous gases including carbon monoxide, which causes blood poisoning and carbon dioxide that can cause suffocation and death. The smoke also causes different kinds of diseases as it contains cancerous and toxic substances,” he explained.
Hajeri claimed Green Line was the only body in Kuwait that sent warning messages via social media to Jahra residents from the first minutes of the fire informing them of the best ways of facing this disaster, while other authorities including EPA were caught napping. Chairperson of Kuwait Voluntary Work Center Sheikha Amthal Al-Sabah said the center’s volunteers were ready to help. She said she called Kuwait Fire Services Director (KFSD) Maj Gen Jassem Al-Mansouri to offer the help of volunteers.
